Tarou Komori (小森 太郎) [Seiyuu: Kenshou Ono]![]() | Age: 14 Tarou is the main protaganist of Ghost Hound. He was kidnapped with his sister Mizuka 11 years ago(when he was 3) on September 2, 1996. His sister had died in the kidnapping. Since then, Tarou has had O.B.E.s(out-of-body-experiences) during his sleep and records what he sees in order to figure the reason for it. He seeks help from the school pyschologist. After realizing that Tarou has been visiting Kakuriyo, he wishes to see his dead sister to ask her questions. He doesn't seem to remember the face of the kidnapper[who killed his sister] and has flashbacks of a tall black figure. In the aftermath of an accident at the Komagusu family's shrine, he discovered an ability to apparently travel inside his own brain. He appears to have a crush on Miyako. |
Masayuki Nakajima (中嶋 匡幸) [Seiyū: Jun Fukuyama]![]() | Age: Not specified, possibly 14. Recently transfered to Tarou and Makoto's school from Tokyo, he tries to make friends with both due to an interest in investigating the kidnapping incident. While he was initially ignored by both, they eventually warmed up to him, with the three of them beginning to try and find the circumstances behind the kidnapping incident and the reason behind their O.B.Es. He tends to be very confident, and initially somewhat arrogant and rude. He has had a fear of heights ever since he bullied someone to suicide by jumping off the school roof, and the victim left a message on the blackboard cursing Masayuki. Masayuki unashamedly admits he ran away due to the message. He is, however, very determined to overcome this problem and tries extensively, including standing on the edge of the school roof, to cure his fear of heights. Unlike Tarou and Makoto, Masayuki an use video game weapons while in his O.B.E.s. |
Makoto Ogami (大神 信) [Seiyū: Soichiro Hoshi]![]() | Age: Not specified, possibly 14. A fairly silent, though hot-tempered boy, who avoids contact with his classmates and rarely comes to school. He is a relative of Tarou's, his family being a branch of the Komori's. He has O.B.Es like Tarou and Masayuki, and is able to produce them while playing his guitar. Makoto's family founded a religion of which his elderly grandmother, Himeko, currently serves as the central point, and who wishes that Makoto succeed her as its head, though Makoto is not interested in it. In the direct aftermath of the kidnapping of the Komori children, his father committed a bizarre suicide shortly after they were found, with the circumstances of his death being unknown. Makoto subsequently discovered his father's bloodied corpse, which resulted in a traumatic encounter for him; due to this, he wishes to find out more about the circumstances of his father's death and had initially harbored resentment towards Tarou, however he appears to have warmed up to him. |
Miyako Komagusu (駒玖珠 都) [Seiyū: Akiko Yajima]![]() | Miyako is debuted in the very first episode when Tarou is in an O.B.E. She somehow has the ability to see Tarou when he is in Kakuriyo, along with sensing when the three[Tarou, Masayuki, and Makoto] of them entered Kakuriyo for the first time. She lives at a shrine, and regularly helps her father with Exorcisms and the like. She acts rather mature for her age, often scolding the older boys for acting childish, and even scolding her father when he drink too much. |
| Atsushi Hirata (平田 篤司) [Seiyū: Yoshinori Fujita] | An eccentric clinical psychologist from Tokyo University, he introduces much of the series' psychological terminology, and is apparently interested in Tarou's dreams and condition. He does not believe Tarou's O.B.Es. are in any way supernatural, but are rather states of altered consciousness. He wishes to help Tarou, but also observe him as a test subject. |
| Reika Otori (鳳 麗華) [Seiyū: Michiko Neya] | Reika is a neurologist who treats Tarou, and prescribes medicine to his mother. She also seems to know Takahito Komagusu and is another source psychological and neurological information. |
| Ryōya Komori (小森 良弥) [Seiyū: Fumihiko Tachiki] Miki Komori (小森 美樹) [Seiyū: Sakiko Tamagawa] ![]() | *Tarou's father, and a famous sake brewer. He seems to have handled the incident much better then his wife. *Tarou's mother. Although her daughter Mizuka died several years before, she is still very emotionally damaged by the incident, and tends to show this with an unintended eye-twitch whenever Mizuka is mentioned. She also has admitted to taking medication, possibly to help her sleep, and also apparently cannot dream. |
| Kei Yakushi (瘧師 慧) [Seiyū:Mitsuki Saiga] This is not a picture of Kei, just a person who looks like her. | She is a friend of the Komori family and work for their sake business. She is put in charge of the brewery. |
| Takahito Komagusu (駒玖珠 孝仁) [Seiyū: Yasunori Matsumoto] | Father of Miyako. He was a lecturer at Tokyo University, where one of his students were Reika Otori. He is concerned with Miyako's psychological health, and even discusses the matter with Otori. |
| Himeko Ogami (大神 姫子) (Seiyū: Ikuko Tani) | Himeko is Makoto's elder grandmother who forbids him from going to his father's room after her son's suicide. She pressures Makoto into taking her place as head of the shrine. |
